As we gear up for the Super Bowl this weekend, we’ve been thinking about all the ways in which dating is like football. When we put pen to paper, we realized they’re even more similar than we initially thought. Remember your uniform When an NFL team takes the field, their uniforms are clean and pressed and tucked in. When you go out on a date, you want to look your best. Avoid exaggerating about your role at work or your financial situation. It will come back to bite you down the road. If your date catches you at your worst, they could see it as a red flag.

Basketball fans will definitely want to take in a Pelicans game during the NBA season, and football fans are probably quite familiar with the Saints as well. Baseball aficionados can also attend a Baby Cakes formerly Zephyrs game to see one of the minor league affiliates of the Miami Marlins at work. Much like the cemetery visits listed above, the following attractions are easy to enjoy without paying a dime.

Social trends Since the s, Internet dating has become more popular with smartphones. The stigma associated with online dating dropped over the years and people view online dating more positively. Further, during this period, the usage among to year-olds tripled, while that among to year-olds doubled. Online introduction services In , a variation of the online dating model emerged in the form of introduction sites, where members have to search and contact other members, who introduce them to other members whom they deem compatible.
Introduction sites differ from the traditional online dating model, and attracted a large number of users and significant investor interest. Such sites earn revenue from a mix of advertising and sale of additional options. This model also allows users to switch between free and paying status at will, with sites accepting a variety of online currencies and payment options. Since advertising revenues are modest compared to membership fees, this model requires a large number of page views to achieve profitability.
However, Sam Yagan describes dating sites as ideal advertising platforms because of the wealth of demographic data made available by users. While some sites conduct background checks on members, many do not, resulting in some uncertainty around members’ identities. For instance, some profiles may not represent real humans but rather “bait profiles” placed online by site owners to attract new paying members, or “spam profiles” created by advertisers to market services and products.
Profiles created by real humans also have the potential to be problematic. For example, online dating sites may expose more female members in particular to stalking , fraud , and sexual violence by online predators. Some online dating service providers may have fraudulent membership fees or credit card charges.

A friend had a great experience with It’s Just Lunch (in fact he is currently engaged to a woman he met through the service). I figured, why not expand my universe of dating. As a fluke I on: Broadway Suite , Denver, CO
And it charges big bucks for its dating services. They have completely misrepresented their services and available clientele. I called after every meeting and explained why the person chosen was nothing like what they said they had available to me and what my specific needs were and promised by them to deliver, were not even close. I was incredibly unhappy and gave detailed information as to what was wrong and missing only to be told each time they understood and would guarantee I would be very happy with the next person they had for me.
I refuse to continue with a service that has completely misrepresented what they are and what they promise to deliver. Maybe they used a dart board where the same two colored darts hit and were then said to be a match. I am well beyond disappointed with their promises and performance, as you can see and demand a full refund based on their complete misrepresentation.

But Ford, and his scriptwriters, were only following in a long line of people who have contributed to the myths, misinformation and confusion surrounding the fabeled “rose-red city” of Petra – not only since its rediscovery in but as far back as the Middle Ages. The list of misconceptions with which Petra has been plagued over the centuries is almost overwhelming.
Most are harmless errors in names, dates, attributions and the like, but, taken as a whole, they detract greatly from the reality of this important scenic and archeological site. Since Indiana Jones had to reach his goal via the Shiq, the two-kilometer yard chasm leading into Petra, perhaps that is a good place to begin a demythologizing tour of the site. The Shiq is a great cleft in the earth, formed in the hazy depths of the geological past by the same earthquake activity that has plagued the area ever since.
Its narrow, winding route through the lofty cliffs which protect the site on the east remains one of the great experiences for the visitor today, and is probably responsible for the belief that it was here that Moses struck the rock to secure water for his wandering people after the flight from Egypt – the first of the Moses-linked stories now associated with the whole Petra Basin.
The wadi valley that bisects the ancient city center was dutifully dubbed Wadi Musa Valley of Moses , a name first encountered in the records of the Crusaders. The Crusader leader Baldwin, just before he became king of the Latin Kingdom in AD , was summoned to Petra by “the monks of Saint Aaron,” those records show, who claimed they were being harassed by “the Saracens. He soon discovered that there were no fortified points south of “The Castle of Saint Abraham” at Hebron, and he hastened to mend that deficiency.
Along with the fortresses still standing today at Kerak, Sho- bak, Tafilah and elsewhere in Jordan, a fortress was erected in the “Valley of Moses” and the legend of Moses’ visit to Petra was thus given official recognition. Obviously, the monks of Saint Aaron had much to do with this whole affair, the better to establish their right to demand Crusader protection. Little deceits can get out of hand, however, and soon other signs of Moses’ visit appear at the site.
The Khaznat al- Faroun, where Indiana Jones made his great discovery in the film, is another victim of the early monks’ tales. Khaznat al-Faroun means “the Treasury of the Pharaoh”- and a myth goes with the name:

Click here for my weekly posts on delicious French school lunch menus. What can we learn from the French approach? The French eat their fair share of junk and fast food as any visit to a big French supermarket will tell you. The French have decided the teaching healthy eating routines to children is a priority, and they teach children about healthy food in the classroom AND the lunchroom. Three-course or even four-course freshly-prepared hot lunches are provided to over 6 million French children in the public school system every day.
Why do the French put this much effort into healthy lunches? Because it makes sense—socially, economically, and nutritionally.

Let’s ignore the slow horrible actual delivery. After they failed to deliver as promised on one referral, I sent an email to ask for correction. That was met by a “curt” email that was followed by continued no delivery. Then their agent BR took offense to my frustrations. I contacted corporate and was given the runaround. I asked twice for a supervisor to contact me. Still no response, no call. These people only have service to sell. They appear to me to be interested in doing as little as they have to and to then ignore a customer who reaches out to a supervisor to fix the problems.
This is a waste of money and a poor service. I recommend that anyone considering this organization avoid them like the plague. It is probably a difficult process to match people. If Shari and I lived miles from each other, that would have been better. Unfortunately, it did not work out that way.
