Thu Aug 27, Instead of installing the diverter valve we opted to tie into the high pressure oil line feeding the dozer hydraulic valve. This was a considerable amount of work and planning as we needed to mount a relief valve under the seat and it does require a return line to the tank. We also installed a larger hydraulic pump off of a loader machine. We opted out of the diverter set up as it is a pain to keep flipping between the dozer and loader functions. We reach back from the backhoe seat and pick up the dozer and then use the hoe to push the machine forward and then put the dozer back down for stability. Very happy with the set up as we were able to adjust the relief value up to get some excellent digging power. Only think i would change would be larger plumbing to get the full benefit of the larger hydraulic pump.

Connect a psi. Connection to the most convenient of these points is recommended. Re-bleed the system if necessary to eliminate any air in the hydraulic system. Apply the brakes without starting the engine and check for hydraulic leaks and agreement between the hydraulic gauges. If no external leaks are in evidence and leaks are indicated by the pedal or gauges, an internal leak is present which must be corrected before further tests may be run. With the brakes released and the engine running, the vacuum gauge should show a manifold vacuum of approximately 20 inches 1 3 inches.
Run the engine one minute with the brakes released and note any drop in the vacuum gauge reading. If the rate of vacuum loss exceeds 2 inches of Mercury in 15 seconds, excessive air is leaking into the system. Shut the engine off.
I have a that will pump hyd oil out front filter for about two or three cups than quit when first start. I still own one and was responsible for repairing a number of them over the years. For front end loader use, release the clutch in neutral often to keep pump fed. You should also keep an eye on the tractor’s hydraulic fluid for awhile, not just the amount in the sump, but the clarity of the fluid as well, as the oil that was still in the loader may be old and could contaminate the hydraulic fluid in the tractor.
That noise that you heard when you pressed on the lever was most likely the pump straining because you stopped the flow. The pump runs whenever the tractor engine is running, that’s called “live hydraulics”. Your tractor uses what’s called an open center hydraulic system, which means that when the pump is not actually doing work, there should be a path for the fluid to flow from the pump back to the sump. When that lever is in its normal position, the fluid is being pumped through the 3 point lift control valve, and when the 3 point lift isn’t actually in the process of lifting the arms, the lift control valve automatically bypasses the flow back into the sump.
When you push that lever, it diverts the flow from the 3 point to the remote connections, but since there was nothing connected to the remotes, the fluid had nowhere to go and the pump was straining, basically creating pressure but no flow. It is OK to do it for a second or 2 once in a while, but doing it often will shorten the life of the the system, either the pump or the seals or both.

Downhole Pumps Types of Installations The two basic types of installations are the “fixed”-pump and the “free”-pump design. In the fixed installation, the downhole pump is attached to the end of a tubing string and run into the well. Free-pump installations are designed to allow the downhole pump to be circulated into and out of the well inside the power-fluid string, or it can also be installed and retrieved by wireline operations.
Fixed-Pump Installations In the fixed-insert or tubing-conveyed design, the pump typically lands on a seating-shoe in the larger tubing. Power fluid is normally directed down the inner tubing string, and the produced fluids and return power fluid flow to the surface inside the annulus between the two tubing strings, as shown in Part A of Fig. These systems provide a passage for free gas in the annular space between the outer tubing string and the inside of the well casing, but to take full advantage of this gas-venting passage, the pump should be set below the perforations.
The fixed-pump system is used mainly to fit a large-diameter downhole pump into restricted casing sizes and still retain the gas-vent feature. It also can be used to lift one or both zones of a dual well with parallel strings. In the fixed-casing design, the tubing with the pump attached to its lower end is seated on a packer, as shown in Part B of Fig. Because the well fluids enter the pump from below a packer, the pump must handle all the free gas.

Is there a way to do this without cutting into the metal line? I was told I would need to cut out a short section of the high pressure line and braze a 90 degree fitting on each end, then hook up my in and out lines thereby putting my loader in sync with the 3 point hitch. Any help or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks chris They make a compression fitting for this job that doesn’t require the torch work, just cutting the line, cleaning the outside of the line, and installing the fitting.
Might also want to install quick connects on the steel lines if you intend to remove the loader at some time in the future.
